Barry Vail is a singer songwriter, originally from River Falls, WI, currently living in Seattle, WA. A self taught musician, Barry taps into Americana, Folk, Blues, Rock n' Roll, and Country; a reflection of the music that inspired him to write and play. Barry plays regularly in the Pacific Northwest as a solo performer and also with his partner in crime, Ian James, as part of the "folk-hop" band Joe Gould's Secret.
Keep an eye out for Barry's solo debut full length album set to drop in fall 2005. Check out the songs from the e.p. "This Morning, This Evening", available for sale on CDBaby.com. "This Morning..." is the second e.p. of Barry's engineered and produced by "jack of all trades" Rick Hoag, who also contributes to bass and percussion. The e.p. also includes the musicianship of Brian Anderson on Keys and Darren Reynolds on drums and the CD features songs that will appear on the upcoming full length album. Barry has also recorded "DEMO" and his first e.p. "For What That's Worth" with Rick, and the two will lock themselves in the studio in early August to record and complete the full length.
Highlights from "This Morning, This Evening" include the rollicking title track, the lyrically sublime "Sunrise", and an interpretation of Neil Young's little ditty "Cripple Creek Ferry".
Barry recently completed a West Coast tour in May with fellow Seattle singer songwriter, Eric Branner. Starting in Seattle, the two tromped south to Portland, Eugene, Arcata, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Monterey, then back north again. From all accounts, it was a truly EPIC adventure. Special thanks to those who helped make the tour possible, you're belief in the music keeps it alive. The two hope to replicate the tour in early fall 2005.
